Installing the VANcillary Sliding Door Stopper

Because our van was originally designed as a cargo van, the sliding door opens pretty wide – enough for a forklift to load a pallet of goods. That’s really nice for cargo, and on beautiful days when we’re out away from it all, it’s nice to open the door all the way and enjoy the outdoors.

But sometimes we like to have the door only opened part way – maybe we’re loading groceries in a crowded parking lot, and we want to retain a bit of privacy; or maybe it’s raining and we don’t want the counter top getting all wet; or it could be we’d like some fresh air, but without too much wind gusting into our van.

Without a door stop, if we’re parked on a level surface this is not a problem, but it doesn’t take much slope at all to make that door slide all the way open, or slide closed depending on which is downhill.

That’s where this sliding door stop kit from VANcillary comes in. It’s basically a thin piece of aluminum, with a machined curve that will “cradle” the door roller, providing just enough resistance to hold the door in place, even when parked on a slant.

Give the door a good tug or push and the roller is free again, to either open all the way or to close.
